Buying a new computer can be pretty expensive, and the mainstream companies that make most of the world's PCs aren't exactly giving you a great deal. In fact, the cost to buy a new prebuilt PC is usually hundreds of dollars more than the total cost of the components used to build it. Plus, these prebuilts tend to use non-standard parts that make upgrading and maintenance difficult or even impossible. It doesn't make sense to pay extra for a computer that does less.
Knox PC Builders does the opposite; we'll build you a computer that does extra for less. We take standard, off-the-shelf parts that can be found at mainstream retailers in order to build you the custom PC of your dreams. We charge a truly fair rate for consultations, finding the best components, and assembling your PC.
Disclaimer: we normally operate in Knox County, Tennessee. We may service neighboring counties on a case-by-case basis.
This is one of Dell's most popular gaming desktop PCs, the Alienware Aurora Gaming Desktop. This specific configuration offers upper midrange components.

With our roughly equivalent PC, we chose parts that were as close to what Dell offers as possible, based on what was available on the market from major retailers.
Parts list:
Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF $277
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 $549
32GB DDR5-6000 RAM $89
1TB PCIe 5.0 SSD $89
Intel Z890 Motherboard $239
360mm All-In-One Liquid Cooler $84
850 Modular Watt Power Supply Unit $89
Total (incl. 9.25% sales tax & 10% labor fee): $1,797
Not only is our version over $200 less, it also features much faster parts, including the processor, RAM, and a cooler that's literally three times the size. At the same time, we can cut back on stuff that doesn't matter, such as that insanely overkill power supply, in order to bring the price down. And not only are you saving money and getting more performance, you're also getting a PC you can upgrade easily with industry-standard parts.
First, fill out this questionnaire so we can get a good idea of what you want and need. You set the budget, and we'll do our best. You'll leave your contact information so that we can follow up with you.
Once we've crafted a list of PC parts that we can make a PC out of, we'll let you know. We'll talk you through why we chose each component and if you want to make alterations, we'll be happy to do so. We charge a $50 fee for this consultation, but if you go through with the PC build, that $50 goes towards your final bill, making the consultation free! Our building fee is equal to 10% of the pre-tax price of the components you want us to use.
Ideally, we'd order the parts ourselves, but Tennessee and Knox County combined charge a 9.25% sales tax, which applies once when we buy parts, and then a second time when you buy a PC from us. In order to avoid double taxation, we strongly recommend you buy the parts we recommend and deliver them to us so we only have to charge for the labor of assembling your PC. Buying parts yourself also makes accessing warranty coverage easier, in the event that a component fails after we've given you your PC. If you buy your own parts, make sure you save your receipt so we charge the correct building fee.
Don't need us to find you parts and already have your own? Send us an email at mc@matthewconnatser.net, and we'll figure out a building fee that makes sense for you.
Knox PC Builders is run by me, Matthew, out of my garage. You can read more about me on the About Us page, but long story short I've been building PCs for years and also reviewed countless components during my time as a tech journalist. I've also sold quite a few used PC parts over the years for fair prices around Knox County and across the country via the mail. Knox PC Builders isn't just a side hustle for me, it's a way for me to build cool computers and save my community a ton of money in the short term and the long term.
